Outcast Productions Black Box Theater

At the Black Box Theater, OutCast Productions features, “theater with a social conscience” that explores current issues and forces the audience to think about those issues. In short, it’s, as they call it, “Theater on the edge…” Not all productions are suitable for all ages. The theater is located at the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds. Season runs March through October.

Island Shakespeare Festival

The Island Shakespeare Festival is a rapidly-growing theatrical event. Based in a bright 2400 square foot authentic circus tent, the company features professional paid actors from all over the country who perform, not only the works of Shakespeare, but features other author’s as well. With a rotating performance schedule, theatre-goers can see different performances throughout any given weekend.

Whidbey Children’s Theater

Featuring the talent of Whidbey’s children, Whidbey Children’s Theater presents a broad selection of works sure to delight audiences of all ages. The theater’s season is November through July.

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA)

From regional music festivals including Djangofest Northwest and PianoFest, to musical performances from regional and national artists, to community theater and performances from nationally-known talent, the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA), is an island arts treasure. The center has performances scheduled all year long.

Whidbey Island Dance Theatre

The Whidbey Island Dance Theatre presents dance genres including ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, tap, and ballroom. The theatre presents two major productions each year. The largest is the Nutcracker, which has been performed for nearly two decades. WIDT has also performed in cities as varied as Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and Tucson. Performances are April and December.

Whidbey Playhouse

For nearly 50 years, the Whidbey Playhouse has been presenting live community theatre. Productions range from musicals and comedies to drama and variety shows. The playhouse produces five productions each year along with other events such as improv theatre, and youth theater programs.
